Guest Judy Anne Davis Posted October 31, 2010 at 02:33 PM Report Share Posted October 31, 2010 at 02:33 PM Can the Parlimentarian of a group also hold another elected office within the same group (i.e. Recording Secretary)?
jstackpo Posted October 31, 2010 at 02:46 PM Report Share Posted October 31, 2010 at 02:46 PM Nothing in RONR would forbid that, but it is a VERY bad idea.Far better to find an advisor who is completely independent of the association, even if you have to pay him/her a fee. Guest Judy Anne Davis Posted October 31, 2010 at 02:49 PM Report Share Posted October 31, 2010 at 02:49 PM Thank you. This was my feeling as Recording Secretary, but I wanted to be sure!
Gary Novosielski Posted October 31, 2010 at 02:54 PM Report Share Posted October 31, 2010 at 02:54 PM Can the Parlimentarian of a group also hold another elected office within the same group (i.e. Recording Secretary)? No rule in RONR prevents a person from holding two offices, but it recognizes that, by rule or custom, your society may not allow it. But you are free to allow it. But note that even if a person isn't allowed to HOLD multiple offices, they can still be nominated (or written in) for multiple offices and then decide which one to accept, if elected.(Parliamentarian should NOT be an elected office but the principle is the same.)
