Question: A motion is made , is seconded and then opened for discussion. During the discussion an amendment to the primary motions is made, seconded and is voted on and passed. is it necessary to act on the primary motion, or does passing the amended motion takes care of the primary motion?

The motion, as amended, is again before the assembly, for further debate and/or further amendment. The motion hasn't been adopted, yet. That will require another vote.
