Guest Alison Tarver Posted December 10, 2010 at 04:21 PM Report Share Posted December 10, 2010 at 04:21 PM For the purposes of Board meetings, our association President does not participate in a vote unless there is a tie. Is this practice correct? Also, our current President has been calling for votes on various motions and other association business, but states in his emails to us: "In case of a tie, I will be voting .... (in favor, or against)" I believe that this is out of order and actually influences some Board members votes. What would be your advice? Thanks
George Mervosh Posted December 10, 2010 at 04:23 PM Report Share Posted December 10, 2010 at 04:23 PM 1) See FAQ #1 He can vote anytime he wants.....in smaller boards the presiding officer customarily votes on all questions just like everyone else.2) No rule against that. The President is not required to remain impartial outside of meetings.
