Nominations from the floor

The following is taken from our bylaws regarding election of officers. In specifically stating the month in which to appoint a nominating committee and specifically stating the month for nominations to be submitted, and stating that "nominations for elected positions will be accepted from the floor" in the November meeting, does this mean that nominations are closed after that November meeting, and should not be opened again at our December election meeting?

A nominating committee, consisting of a chairperson and two members, shall be appointed by the President with approval of the Active Membership, at the September General Membership meeting.

SECTION 2: ROSTER OF OFFICERS

Nominations shall be submitted to the General Membership at the November meeting, at which time nominations for elected positions will be accepted from the floor.

Your bylaws so your organization must interpret them.

Not necessary.

Any rule which closes nominations is a rule which is in the nature of a rule of order.

As such, the rule can be suspended.

So, if there were a need, the assembly could re-open nominations, any time before any election. -- Any month.

so does this mean that after the voting is complete .. the voting polls must remain open for another 10 days...

the voting is complete everyone in the organization has voted who wanted to vote.

do we leave the voting polls open for another 10 days.

this is very confusing for me as i can not understand why we would do so.

Your original questions were about re-opening nominations. Now you're talking about leaving the polls open. Nominating and voting are two different things.
