Guest NEED HELP Posted December 21, 2010 at 11:36 PM Report Posted December 21, 2010 at 11:36 PM Recently our school Superintendent submitted his resignation to the school board.The school board tabled his resignation at a regular meeting.The Superintendent then resinded his resignation before a vote.Does the school board still have to act on the motion that was tabled or since it was rescinded can they remove it from the next agenda.State it happened in is Iowa.

If not, consult legal advice as to whether the superintendent was within his rights to unilaterally withdraw the resignation.

Posted December 22, 2010 at 01:04 AM Report Posted December 22, 2010 at 01:04 AM As SG points out, the resignation would be withdrawn, not rescinded.It terms of pure parliamentary procedure, the resignation may be withdrawn with the consent of the majority (p. 284 ff.).Note that if not withdrawn, the resignation would still need a majority to be accepted (p. 277 ff.).[Just expanding on SG's comments, not disagreeing.)
