Guest Joseph Posted December 28, 2010 at 03:58 PM Report Share Posted December 28, 2010 at 03:58 PM I am Pres of local service club. Tomorrow I present the proposed Board for new year and open floor for additional nominations. If member moves to accept slate by acclamation, does the motion require and second and vote by the membership.
George Mervosh Posted December 28, 2010 at 04:06 PM Report Share Posted December 28, 2010 at 04:06 PM The motion is improper. After being sure that no {further} nominations will come from the floor (and be certain about it), you can declare any unopposed nominee elected without a vote UNLESS your bylaws require a vote by ballot. If they require a vote by ballot that rule can never be suspended.
