mcfarland Posted June 10, 2017 at 11:01 PM Report Share Posted June 10, 2017 at 11:01 PM Scenario: Non profit membership organization. Under duress and between meetings, a board member resigns via an email to the President. Now, that board member has changed their mind and wants to continue on the board. Question: When is the resignation "final". Can it nor be considered final until it is recorded at the next meeting? Could a motion be made to "not accept" the resignation? Thank you in advance for your answers. - Bob
Hieu H. Huynh Posted June 10, 2017 at 11:51 PM Report Share Posted June 10, 2017 at 11:51 PM The resignation would have to be accepted by the assembly unless your bylaws provide otherwise. Also see FAQ #18.
jstackpo Posted June 11, 2017 at 01:45 AM Report Share Posted June 11, 2017 at 01:45 AM And since, from what you say, the resignation has not been accepted by the board, the member is free to withdraw his resignation, as he apparently has done. So he/she remains board member. Nothing further need be done.
