Guest crsla Posted April 12, 2011 at 02:50 PM Report Share Posted April 12, 2011 at 02:50 PM If an member already holding an office is nominated for another office - are they to resign in writing and does it need approval of the body before that person can be elected to the other position? What is the process/steps that should be taken in a situation such as this?

However, there are some pairings that are discouraged (Pres & VP, Pres & Secretary) for good reasons. Your rules (bylaws, etc) may include something that limits a person to one office at a time, but typically there is no requirement to resign from the one to take the other until they are elected, although that might also be in your bylaws. That's where you really need to look for further answers.

In fact it would be much smarter to see if you're elected first, before you decide whether and when to resign.
