Guest OldFashion Posted March 6, 2012 at 05:13 PM Report Share Posted March 6, 2012 at 05:13 PM Our association is facing amending more than a dozen provisions of our by-laws. The pending motion combines all amendments. Is there, and if there is, a motion to separate the various provisions into individual items so the vote is not all or nothing? George Mervosh Posted March 6, 2012 at 07:27 PM Report Share Posted March 6, 2012 at 07:27 PM See RONR p. 270ff for the Division of a Question. I would think in many, if not most cases, proposed amendments to different articles or sections (except conforming amendments (p. 273, line 33ff) ) would be different subjects and be subject to being divided on demand (p. 274, line 31ff) but I'm not sure everyone will agree with me on that. Chris Harrison Posted March 6, 2012 at 07:44 PM Report Share Posted March 6, 2012 at 07:44 PM With that many changes they may want to consider doing a general revision rather than work with isolated changes which (hopefully) would lessen the chances of conflicts between provisions. I guess it all depends on what their intent might be.
