Guest toni hyland Posted March 22, 2012 at 11:33 PM Report Share Posted March 22, 2012 at 11:33 PM I am President for a national volunteer club--no one receives a salary. Neither our constitution or by-laws cover who establishes the agenda for our annual meeting, who can add agenda items or how agenda items can be rejected. The general management of the club's affairs are entrusted to the board. We have established procedures for approved presenters. One member did not make the grade and was not approved by the recommending committee or the Bd. A club member has requested that a motion be placed on the floor at the general meeting to have the membership overturn the Board and Committee decision. (1) This is a general management decision made through established procedures - it is not a membership decision. (2) The person requesting the motion is not the person who was denied. (3) The person denied has stated they no longer wish to pursue presenter status. The Bd has advised the person reqeusting the motion that the item will not be agendized. He has stated that unless he withdraws the request, we have to honor the requst be agendized. I see no where that this is true.........Is this anywhere in RRO? Larry Cisar Posted March 22, 2012 at 11:50 PM Report Share Posted March 22, 2012 at 11:50 PM The agenda is finalized by the membership at the meeting unless it is a special meeting. If a person wants to make a motion, the person can always do it under new business. It seems that your procedure is to set up a proposed agenda but the members, via motions to amend, can change that.
