Rev Ed Posted August 6, 2012 at 05:38 PM Report Share Posted August 6, 2012 at 05:38 PM But the group, by majority vote, can make a formal decision to allow it or not to allow it. So while RONR does not prohibit it, RONR allows the members of the group to decide.
Guest Cheri Posted September 19, 2012 at 08:31 PM Report Share Posted September 19, 2012 at 08:31 PM Clarification, please. We have a five member board of directors for a small non-profit organization. We had a board meeting last night and three ladies wanted the meeting to be recorded. The board said no and yet they disregarded our wish. In your previous statement, is this a decision of the board or of the membership?
Guest Edgar Posted September 19, 2012 at 08:39 PM Report Share Posted September 19, 2012 at 08:39 PM . . . is this a decision of the board or of the membership? In the short term, it's a decision of the body that is meeting (in this instance, the board). In the long term the general membership could adopt rules regarding the taping of board meetings. Absent any rules, the "three ladies" who were not members of the board didn't even have a (parliamentary) right to attend the board meeting, let alone tape record it.See also this recent topic.
