Guest Lanelle Posted August 7, 2012 at 12:07 AM Report Share Posted August 7, 2012 at 12:07 AM Three point questions:1. Can the president appoint himself as chair of all committees?2. Per our bylaws, our nominating committee is a standing committee. We now have someone who says all associatons she has been involved in it has always been part of the social commmittee. As of now we have the Annual Dinner and Homecoming committees under the social committee with a separate chair for each. Should we also include the nominating comm. under this also? I think that would be too many sub-committees.3. When RONR refers to non members serving on committees, is it referring to non board membes or non members of the orginizaton? Chris Harrison Posted August 7, 2012 at 01:08 AM Report Share Posted August 7, 2012 at 01:08 AM 1) Not unless the bylaws grant him that authority.2) Nothing in RONR requires that the nominating committee be part of the social committee and frankly doing so sounds like a square peg and a round hole.3) People who aren't members of the body which appointed/populated the committee. The committee will report its nominees to its parent group. Since the Social Committee will likely not be electing the officers, the Nominating Committee should not one of its subcommittees.3.
