Fergusgw Posted September 18, 2012 at 07:12 PM Report Share Posted September 18, 2012 at 07:12 PM When the nominating committee has the list of names that are nominated for each office, they present the list, one office at a time. Then the chair ask "are there any other nominations". Does this have to be said 3 times or will one time do it? Also, this has to be done for each office? Where is this stated in RONR? Trina Posted September 18, 2012 at 07:15 PM Report Share Posted September 18, 2012 at 07:15 PM See RONR (11th ed.) pp. 435-436. No times 3 requirement in RONR.

But with nominations, not so much.
Guest Kathy Posted September 27, 2012 at 10:50 PM Report Share Posted September 27, 2012 at 10:50 PM On the nominations, do you have to ask "are there any other nominations?"? We are doing an email ballot for absentees and a written ballot for attendees. So do we have to call for floor nominations at the meeting to add to the already typed ballot? Maybe you should finish the nominations at one meeting, send out the e-mail ballot, and then take a vote at the next meeting.
Guest Kathy Posted September 27, 2012 at 11:16 PM Report Share Posted September 27, 2012 at 11:16 PM @Guest - Edgar, yes our by-laws do allow for email voiting. @ John R. That is a good idea. Thanks for your help.

What if they don't finish the election before the world ends on December 21? Mixing live votes and absentee votes is never a good idea: acknowledged.
