Guest elle Posted November 8, 2012 at 04:09 AM Report Share Posted November 8, 2012 at 04:09 AM Hi, Our Club President has accepted the nomination to run for President for the next year, which has been accepted by the members present at a Member Meeting, and another member will be running also. The ballots have been sent out. There is a 50/50 chance that he will be re-elected at the election later this month. He has violated several of our Bylaws during his term and has disreguarded Bylaw procedures. If he is elected is there a way to challenge the results for the president position, and what needs to be done? Thanks for any help.

Rev Ed Posted November 8, 2012 at 05:01 AM Report Share Posted November 8, 2012 at 05:01 AM And the last time I checked, debate was allowed when it comes to elections - so bring up the issue(s) before the membership votes. But when you have a choice, choose the option you prefer - it's that simple.
Guest Edgar Posted November 8, 2012 at 11:47 AM Report Share Posted November 8, 2012 at 11:47 AM He has violated several of our Bylaws during his term and has disreguarded Bylaw procedures. If he's re-elected and continues to break the rules, he should be stopped when it happens. Don't wait for the next election. Or even the next meeting. Most infractions of the rules have to be challenged when they occur. But if some of his violations of the rules are serious enough (there's a list of these in RONR) it may still not be too late to challenge them. sMargaret Posted November 8, 2012 at 02:49 PM Report Share Posted November 8, 2012 at 02:49 PM The ballots have been sent out. First of all, read your bylaws, and see what they have to say about voting. I'm picking up on that part where ballots have been sent out - do your bylaws actually authorize voting that is not at the meeting (ie, proxy, absentee, or voting by mail)? Guest elle Posted November 9, 2012 at 02:42 PM Report Share Posted November 9, 2012 at 02:42 PM Hi, There is a Bylaw stating that the ballots are sent to members 30 days prior to the election date because we have several members who live in another state. This same bylaw states that ballots will be accepted at the Member Meeting on the night of the election. All votes are in a sealed envelope and are counted by a Tally Committee of 3 members on the election night.Where do I find the list in RONR, please????
