g40 Posted November 9, 2012 at 03:34 AM Report Share Posted November 9, 2012 at 03:34 AM 1. He/she has NO role, unless your bylaws or governing documents designate a role2. With no role, he/she would not be on the agenda (other than to say "Hello, Pat" to him/her]3. There are many reasons (often cited here) who a role for a "past president" is not a good idea. [Much like defining a role/position in your current marriage/family for an ex-spouse.]
Chris Harrison Posted November 9, 2012 at 03:34 AM Report Share Posted November 9, 2012 at 03:34 AM What is the role of the immediate past president? There isn't one under RONR.Where should the immediate past president be listed on the agenda if at all? There is no more reason (under RONR) to list the immediate past president on the agenda than there is to list Billy Joe Bob.

Tim Wynn Posted November 13, 2012 at 12:22 AM Report Share Posted November 13, 2012 at 12:22 AM What is the role of the immediate past president? Where should the immediate past president be listed on the agenda if at all?RONR doesn't define a role for that position. You may be using an agenda incorrectly, or at least unnecessarily. See RONR (11th ed.), p. 353, for the Standard Order of Business, which is all that most organizations will need.
