Guest Marie Posted January 30, 2013 at 01:49 AM Report Share Posted January 30, 2013 at 01:49 AM Can a member make a motion for an in-camera session during a special meeting? The by-laws do not refer to these particulars, although they do allow for specical meetings.

J. J. Posted January 30, 2013 at 04:34 AM Report Share Posted January 30, 2013 at 04:34 AM Provided the motion is otherwise in order. Because this is a special meeting, the motion (or a general sense of the motion) may have to be in the call of the meeting. Being in executive session would have nothing to do with that, however. The by-laws do not refer to these particulars, although they do allow for [special] meetings.Well, presuming you are already in the room, a motion to go into the room would be redundant. But if you're referring to "closed session" or "executive session" then it's fine. It's straightforward RONR procedure in regular or special meetings.
