Josh Martin Posted July 1, 2014 at 11:55 PM Report Share Posted July 1, 2014 at 11:55 PM What is the proper procedure for the chair to adopt when he needs to confuse with the parliamentarian during a meeting?Well, generally he just starts talking to the parliamentarian (or the other way around). The parliamentarian should be seated next to the chair to make such consultation convenient. If it's going to take a while, the chair might ask the assembly to stand at ease (RONR, pg. 82, lines 26-33; pgs. 467-468). jstackpo Posted July 2, 2014 at 12:04 AM Report Share Posted July 2, 2014 at 12:04 AM In my experience "confuse" is just the right word...
Transpower Posted July 2, 2014 at 02:04 PM Report Share Posted July 2, 2014 at 02:04 PM I usually sit to the left of the Chair, and the secretary sits to the right. As parliamentarian, I try to stay fairly inconspicuous, RONR (11th ed.), p. 466, l. 15. I advise the Chair, but he or she makes the final ruling.
