Guest Rita Posted April 12, 2015 at 01:50 PM Report Share Posted April 12, 2015 at 01:50 PM What is the correct process to withdraw a motion? Motion has been presented and seconded and opened for discussion but has not been voted on. Thank You
jstackpo Posted April 12, 2015 at 01:55 PM Report Share Posted April 12, 2015 at 01:55 PM Under the circumstances you describe, the mover simply gets proper recognition and asks permission to withdraw the motion. If seconded, the assembly grants the permission, usually by unanimous consent, but if there is dissent, majority vote will do the trick.
Bruce Lages Posted April 12, 2015 at 01:56 PM Report Share Posted April 12, 2015 at 01:56 PM At this point, the maker of the motion can request permission to withdraw the motion. Such a request is approved either by unanimous consent or, if there is an objection, by a majority vote.
