Guest cherish Posted October 15, 2015 at 05:52 PM Report Share Posted October 15, 2015 at 05:52 PM At a general meeting of the membership there was not a quorum so the meeting was was rescheduled and then ata second meeting once again there was no quorum. The meeting was to vote on proposed new by-laws. The question is that some members believe that the board should be dissolved. There is nothing in our currentby-laws that state this. Is there, in fact, a rule covering this.
Guest Curious Posted October 15, 2015 at 06:34 PM Report Share Posted October 15, 2015 at 06:34 PM Assuming that you want to remove every member from the board, see FAQ #20.
Gödel Fan Posted October 15, 2015 at 11:57 PM Report Share Posted October 15, 2015 at 11:57 PM Some more details would help. Why do they want the board dissolved, and what do they mean by that? Do they mean they want to remove everyone and select new people, or they don't want a board at all? From a practical point of view, I don't think an organization that has this much trouble holding a general meeting wants to be without a board. Hieu H. Huynh Posted October 16, 2015 at 12:28 AM Report Share Posted October 16, 2015 at 12:28 AM Whatever the organization wants to do, there needs to be a quorum at the meeting.

Is there, in fact, a rule covering this. I don't understand how the second paragraph has any relationship at all to the first paragraph. Membership meetings and board meetings are not the same thing. Or are you saying that the proposed change to the bylaws would eliminate the existence of the board? Anyway, there is nothing in RONR that even faintly resembles what "some members" appear to believe. Besides, how would dissolving the board help you get a quorum at the next meeting?
