Guest Rhonda Hannan Posted November 11, 2015 at 10:43 PM Report Share Posted November 11, 2015 at 10:43 PM At our regular meeting of our nonprofit organization the husband of our Trearurer with the treasurer sitting next to him hostily resigned for his wife. Besides the fact that her husband gave her resignation how do you suggest retrieving our treasurey documents and checkbook? Is there a set time period? Do you have a letter suggestion to send to her via email?
Transpower Posted November 11, 2015 at 11:29 PM Report Share Posted November 11, 2015 at 11:29 PM The treasurer should return all treasury materials to the board or assembly ASAP, before the next meeting. Perhaps the president could call the treasurer and have her stop by his house to deliver them, or the president could go the treasurer's house to obtain them. Gödel Fan Posted November 12, 2015 at 12:05 AM Report Share Posted November 12, 2015 at 12:05 AM Should that fail, I believe there are government departments responsible for assisting in cases where others have your property unlawfully.
Kim Goldsworthy Posted November 12, 2015 at 01:37 AM Report Share Posted November 12, 2015 at 01:37 AM ... how do you suggest retrieving our treasurey documents and checkbook?Start at the beginning."Ask." • Make a phone call.• Send an email. Make sure that "hubby" was not in error in resigning for a spouse who actually did not plan on resigning at all.It might all be a temporary blow up, forgotten by morning. That is why you start by ASKING.(I suggest starting with the basics: "Are you really, really resigning?")

An officer may submit a resignation orally at a meeting or in writing to the Secretary or appointing power. No one else can resign on the officer's behalf - not even the officer's spouse. If and when the Treasurer accepts offers the resignation, and that resignation is accepted, then we can worry about getting the documents. There is no set time period, although it should be done as soon as possible. I don't have any form letters prepared for this.
g40 Posted November 12, 2015 at 03:25 AM Report Share Posted November 12, 2015 at 03:25 AM (Assuming there really is a resignation) I would immediately (with proper and documented authority) remove and replace he as having any kind of authority to expend funds. get her off the bank account(s), get the bank to send back unauthorized check disbursements, etc.
