Do Executive Committees have to take minutes

Our Executive Committee (EC) has the authority to act on behalf of the assembly between it’s business meetings. I see where in RONR, committees only have to keep a memorandum of what it has done (not minutes). Is our EC required to take minutes. The EC holds regular monthly meetings and our organization operates under RONR.

The executive committee is really a board within a board (p. 485), but in your case it seems to be the board, so yes, minutes should be taken.

Do  you think that an EC functioning as described should also take minutes?  I've always thought yes, since it is, in effect, acting on behalf of the organization.
