nlh Posted January 27, 2017 at 06:49 PM Report Share Posted January 27, 2017 at 06:49 PM At a recent meeting, the following motion was made: "I make a motion to approve the minutes with unanimous consent." No second, and the chair asked it there were any objections, hearing none the motion was approved. Is this permissible? Have never heard minutes approved in that way. George Mervosh Posted January 27, 2017 at 07:05 PM Report Share Posted January 27, 2017 at 07:05 PM The procedure is for the chair to declare the minutes approved (or approved as corrected) after being certain no other corrections are offered, even if a motion such as that one was made, since no motion is necessary for their approval. In your case the chair essentially made certain there were no other corrections and declared the motion/minutes approved. No real problem there. If so, he's still not very good at it, and has quite a way to go before he get's it right.
