SJC0211 Posted February 1, 2017 at 01:54 PM Report Share Posted February 1, 2017 at 01:54 PM I am working with 16 other people, starting an alumni corp. We are voting on Articles for our by laws right now, and I have run into a problem. 7 people vote for an article to be added, and 10 people did not place a vote at all. I am not clear how the vote would be read here. Does it pass because 7 voted for it, and no one voted against it, or did the vote fail because it was only 7 out of 17? jstackpo Posted February 1, 2017 at 02:11 PM Report Share Posted February 1, 2017 at 02:11 PM Presuming that whatever rules you are acting under call for a favorable majority of the votes cast to adopt something, then your 7-0 vote adopted the motion to include the Article in question. The other 10 just abstained and are not counted for anything -- there was nothing TO count, after all.
