Guest mjhmjh Posted February 9, 2017 at 12:31 PM Report Share Posted February 9, 2017 at 12:31 PM How do standing and special rules of order differ in both their purpose and the method by which they're adopted and amended?
Hieu H. Huynh Posted February 9, 2017 at 12:55 PM Report Share Posted February 9, 2017 at 12:55 PM In general, standing rules deal with administrative details of the organization while special rules of order deal with the conduct of meetings. See RONR 11th ed., pp. 15-18.
Tom Coronite Posted February 9, 2017 at 01:09 PM Report Share Posted February 9, 2017 at 01:09 PM In the past, I personally found it helpful to stop adding "of order" to "standing rules" and stick with the terms as listed in RONR. It was a mistake I was making and when I realized it, I found it helpful in understanding the distinction Mr. Huynh makes. I only say this because I see that in your topic title you appear to make the same error I had made.
