Guest Austin Roth Posted February 13, 2017 at 05:09 PM Report Share Posted February 13, 2017 at 05:09 PM What is the ruling if there is no by-law within the organization that requires a referendum result to be ratified? One of my Universities student unions held a referendum that had a result that is now subject to a declared ratification but no where in our by-laws does it call for one. If it is not in the by-laws or our constitution do we need to ratify?
Hieu H. Huynh Posted February 13, 2017 at 05:15 PM Report Share Posted February 13, 2017 at 05:15 PM Any requirements for referendums and ratification would have to be found in your rules.
Guest Who's Coming to Dinner Posted February 13, 2017 at 05:44 PM Report Share Posted February 13, 2017 at 05:44 PM "Subject" by whom? A faction who wishes to see the result adopted by the union? It would be handled as an ordinary main motion. There is no compulsion to ratify anything absent a local rule which demands it.
