Guest Student Posted November 5, 2017 at 05:16 PM Report Share Posted November 5, 2017 at 05:16 PM If an officer's or the board's report has no recommendation, what opportunity do members have to ask questions about it? Asked another way: Assume the standard order of business. The president makes his/her report. There are no recommendations, just a report on activities. A member has questions about one of the activities reported. How can that member ask the question? As far as I can tell from reading RONR and from other topics on this forum, there is no opportunity and the assembly just moves on to the next item of business. Guest Student Posted November 5, 2017 at 09:41 PM Report Share Posted November 5, 2017 at 09:41 PM Thank you. If, instead of a question about the report, the member wishes to make a motion arising from the item in the report, is there a way to do that during reports or should it be brought up under New Business? Joshua Katz Posted November 5, 2017 at 10:13 PM Report Share Posted November 5, 2017 at 10:13 PM Agreeing with Mr. Brown, my personal opinion is that, most of the time, it works more smoothly if it comes up at the time of the report. Hieu H. Huynh Posted November 5, 2017 at 11:38 PM Report Share Posted November 5, 2017 at 11:38 PM And the way to do that is to obtain the floor after the report is done and make the motion at that time.
