Does RONR require a sitting officer to resign before running for election for another position? A vacancy for President arose midterm and the Secretary was among the nominees. Must the Secretary resign in order to stand for election?

I agree with Mr. Mervosh that this is a very unusual situation.  Vacancies in the presidency are automatically filled by the vice president, and the actual vacancy occurs in the vice-presidency.

But in any case, it is not necessary to resign from one office in order to seek election to another.  It makes sense to see if one wins first.  This potentially could create another vacancy in the secretary position, so it would be wise when giving the required previous notice of the election not to limit it to a single office.
