Guest Mark Stockford Posted January 29, 2019 at 10:02 PM Report Share Posted January 29, 2019 at 10:02 PM Just wondering if an organization does not have any indication in their constitution with regards to proxy votes are they allowed to have proxy votes at a membership meeting. The constitution of the organization does not address the proxy vote at all.
Greg Goodwiller, PRP Posted January 29, 2019 at 10:14 PM Report Share Posted January 29, 2019 at 10:14 PM Unless there is some provision in state or other civil law, no. Robert's Rules no only does not automatically authorize proxy voting, it recommends that it not be authorized, because those who vote by proxy are not present for the deliberative process that is at the heart of why parliamentary process exists.
