Tomm Posted July 29, 2022 at 12:20 AM Report Share Posted July 29, 2022 at 12:20 AM Can someone please better explain, perhaps with an example, 25:2, Item 7: "In any case, no rule protecting a minority of a particular size can be suspended in the face of a negative vote as large as the minority protected rule." Shmuel Gerber Posted July 29, 2022 at 01:41 AM Report Share Posted July 29, 2022 at 01:41 AM Suppose the assembly has a rule that a roll call vote can be ordered by one fifth of the members present. This rule cannot be suspended if one fifth of the members present vote against its suspension. An ordinary two thirds is unlikely to prevail in this case, and there would probably be no point in even attempting to suspend the rule. The correction above may improve the clarity of the rule.
