Weldon Merritt Posted November 18, 2023 at 11:54 PM Report Share Posted November 18, 2023 at 11:54 PM Was the motion adopted? If so, it no longer matters who seconded it, or even if it was seconded at all. If fact, once debate has started or any subsidiary motion has been applied, the secondi becomes irrelevant. I'm not quite sure how to answer this because it's not clear what the status of the motion is at this time. But in any event, you do the same thing that you would do as if the board member had not resigned. The fact that the seconder has resigned is immaterial. Further, I would note for the future that if a board uses the small board rules (generally used in boards with not more than about a dozen members present), seconds are not required anyway. Rob Elsman Posted November 19, 2023 at 04:39 PM Report Share Posted November 19, 2023 at 04:39 PM The fact that a seconder of a motion has subsequently resigned has no effect on the handling of the motion he seconded.
