Getting rid of a verbally acting out member

We have a member who thinks he isa know it all and says bad things about our professinals in emails and meetings. If he continue's with this unprofessional behaviorI would like to have his membership revoke. How does one do that??

First check the bylaws to see what they say on the subject. If they are silent see RONR Chapter XX (pp. 624-642). There are two different procedures on those pages depending if the misconduct is occurring at a meeting or outside of a meeting.

One doesn't do much of anything when it comes to disciplining a member.

And expelling a member from an organization is the toughest thing to do.

It's a whole lot easier (at least from a parliamentary perspective) to eject him from a meeting. Maybe he'll take the hint.

What you'll need in both instances is the support of your fellow members.

What is the worst thing he has said about "our professinals" in a meeting?

Me: Pat, I'd like to buy a vowel, please.

Pat Sajak: Sure.

Me: I'd like to buy an "o."

Pat Sajak: Ah, let's see. Yes, there is one "o."

Me (confident): I'd like to solve the puzzle.

Pat Sajak: Go ahead.

Me: "Professionals."

Pat Sajak: That's it.
