Our current bylaws do not state nominations from the floor will be accepted for our general elections. The candidates are presented as a ballot to the general membership by the nominating committee chairman in the form of a motion. Does RONR require nominations from the floor be accepted at this time?

No need to override anything. Your bylaws always prevail (because RONR says so - The staff requires I add that.).

Okay. Please clarify one more thing. How are nominations from the floor accomplished? Is there a specific requirement by the Chair to call for nominations from the floor or must it come in the form of a motion from the floor?

No motion.

The chair automatically prompts for floor nominations.

It is part-and-parcel of ending the nominating committee report.

Here is wording to get you started:

"[to the committee presenter] Thank you for your report. The floor is open for nominations."
