Guest Carol Posted October 12, 2010 at 04:09 PM Report Share Posted October 12, 2010 at 04:09 PM When the by-laws do not address the issue of removal of officers, can the President of the organization ask another officer to resign? In this case, it is a personality conflict and she just wants the VP gone.... What happens if the VP does not want to resign the elected position? In this case, it is a personality conflict and she just wants the VP gone.... Of course she can ask. What happens if the VP does not want to resign the elected position? Then the VP will say "no," or possibly "no!" or, maybe even "Hell no!" All of these are equivalent from a parliamentary point of view. In general, the president does NOT have to power to remove anyone from office unilaterally, unless the president appointed that person to office. Elected officers are responsible to the people who elected them, not to the president.
