hmtcastle Posted February 17, 2011 at 09:44 PM Report Share Posted February 17, 2011 at 09:44 PM Does Robert's Rules of Order require officers to be elected in any specific order? You can elect them one at a time (usually in the order Mr. Mervosh suggested) or you can elect them all at once (i.e. on the same ballot, just as you do on Election Day for Presidents, Senators, Congressmen, Assemblymen, Aldermen, and Mayors). Rob Elsman Posted February 18, 2011 at 12:40 AM Report Share Posted February 18, 2011 at 12:40 AM George, The Books says that nominations are done in that order. The Book fails to add that elections are to be done that way.If the nominations are handled under procedure #2, RONR (10th ed.), p. 426, ll. 7-25, the elections will necessarily be held in the order that the officers are listed in the bylaws. I agree with Mr. Mervosh that this order should also be observed in the case where procedure #1, p. 425, l. 4, through p. 426, l. 6, is used. Even in the case where a consolidated ballot is used, the sections for each office should be listed in the same order.
