Guest Christi Rousseau Posted July 27, 2011 at 02:33 PM Report Share Posted July 27, 2011 at 02:33 PM Is it acceptable for a committee member who was absent from a meeting to make recommendations for revision of the minutes of that meeting? I have received electronic (email) requests for changes to the minutes of a meeting - and that member didn't even attend the meeting.

Gary Novosielski Posted July 27, 2011 at 04:09 PM Report Share Posted July 27, 2011 at 04:09 PM RONR does not require (or even recommend) that meetings of committees should keep "minutes" as such.

Gary c Tesser Posted August 3, 2011 at 11:37 PM Report Share Posted August 3, 2011 at 11:37 PM The requestor is recommending changes to the actual meeting discussion, comments, and action items. As gerry4000 pointed out, the discussion and comments don't belong in minutes, in the first place. (And as Mr Novosielski pointed out, ...)If the action items (are those "motions"?) were recorded inaccurately, then anyone should suggest the correction. Even an absentee, regardless of how he or she knows of the inaccuracy.
Rob Elsman Posted August 4, 2011 at 12:00 AM Report Share Posted August 4, 2011 at 12:00 AM The requestor is recommending changes to the actual meeting discussion, comments, and action items.Nothing in RONR prohibits a member from offering amendments to the minutes of a meeting from which he was absent.
