TraderFred Posted August 8, 2012 at 03:08 PM Report Share Posted August 8, 2012 at 03:08 PM At inquorate meetings, our new President will make announcements about changes in or new club policies that the Board has approved. Minutes are normally kept of these changes or additions. There is no other mechanism to broadcast these to the members. And, these changes are not announced at a subsequent quorate meeting.Question is are these changes or additions to Club policy valid and binding on members when they are announced only at an inquorate meetings
George Mervosh Posted August 8, 2012 at 03:27 PM Report Share Posted August 8, 2012 at 03:27 PM If your Board had the authority to approve the changes in policy, then no rule in RONR requires an announcement at a membership meeting for the rules to take effect. How your Board chooses to announce the changes is up to them, unless some other rule in your society dictates how.

There is no other mechanism to broadcast these to the members.Wait - you have secret policies? If you're not at an inquorate meeting, you don't find out that there is a new or revised policy, presumably applying to members? You may also wish to review your bylaws to see who actually makes policies - does the board have that right to adopt policies, or does the general membership need to approve of the policies?
