Guest Jay Posted May 21, 2014 at 01:52 AM Report Share Posted May 21, 2014 at 01:52 AM President term is up, does the VP become president automatically? Nothing solid in by laws about this.
jstackpo Posted May 21, 2014 at 01:57 AM Report Share Posted May 21, 2014 at 01:57 AM No. Presumably when an officer's term is over, that is the time (per the bylaws) when all or some officers are elected to serve for the next term. The V-P could run for President, but there is nothing automatic about it.
Rev Ed Posted May 21, 2014 at 03:45 AM Report Share Posted May 21, 2014 at 03:45 AM The Vice President only becomes the President automatically if the President resigns or is removed from office. When the President's term is over, you need to have an election to elect a new President. Unless the By-laws state otherwise, the Vice President can run for President, but that does not mean that the members have to elect him/her. SaintCad Posted May 21, 2014 at 05:09 PM Report Share Posted May 21, 2014 at 05:09 PM I don't get the OP unless the bylaws literally are unclear about how a new President is elected/appointed/selected. They must be poorly written bylaws to have such an oversight.
Gary Novosielski Posted May 21, 2014 at 05:30 PM Report Share Posted May 21, 2014 at 05:30 PM President term is up, does the VP become president automatically? Nothing solid in by laws about this. You mean there are no rules about officers, terms of office, method of election, or the like? Or there are but they're not "solid". And if that's the case, where does their solidity come into question?
