Guest Ellen Posted April 21, 2015 at 10:50 PM Report Share Posted April 21, 2015 at 10:50 PM When submitting the resignation letter (resigning from the Board), is it required to state why you're resigning?
jstackpo Posted April 21, 2015 at 10:55 PM Report Share Posted April 21, 2015 at 10:55 PM Nope. Although it might be a courtesy to do so (unless here is invective involved...) ;-)
Richard Brown Posted April 21, 2015 at 11:40 PM Report Share Posted April 21, 2015 at 11:40 PM But it's a good idea to include a very specific date and time at which the resignation is to take effect. If it is to be immediately, it should say so.
Guest Lisa Posted April 22, 2015 at 02:28 AM Report Share Posted April 22, 2015 at 02:28 AM What if we asked a person to resign? We have a member on the board who stated their intention to resign by Sept. Can we proceed to ask him to resign now instead? If so, does the board need to vote before hand or does the president of the board ask for it?
Richard Brown Posted April 22, 2015 at 02:50 AM Report Share Posted April 22, 2015 at 02:50 AM You can ask for anything. Whether you get what you ask for is another matter. Sometimes you do. There is no rule about who does the asking. Any of you who want this person to resign are free to ask for it. If there are a group of you who want it to happen, the person who does the asking can say so. Or a group of you can go and ask as a group.
Edgar Guest Posted April 22, 2015 at 11:47 AM Report Share Posted April 22, 2015 at 11:47 AM If so, does the board need to vote before hand or does the president of the board ask for it?If the board wants to act as a board the board will have to meet as a board. As suggested by Mr. Brown, a resignation is a voluntary act (even though you may have heard of someone being "forced" to resign).
