Guest Randy Trapp Posted May 24, 2015 at 09:55 PM Report Share Posted May 24, 2015 at 09:55 PM May a Management-paid Staff Member (a Gate Greeter/'Security Guard' for a fenced-in Community of nearly 500 homes) run for a position on the Residents Association Board of Officers?(The Board consists of a President, First Vice-President, Second Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and 2 Directors. The Officers are elected, unpaid 'Volunteers'; the Board follows Robert's Rules of Order.)
Edgar Guest Posted May 24, 2015 at 09:57 PM Report Share Posted May 24, 2015 at 09:57 PM Check your bylaws. As far as RONR is concerned, anyone (even me I) can run for a position (and, more importantly, serve) on your board. If your bylaws are silent as to eligibility (unlikely) your only recourse is to elect someone else.

Weldon Merritt Posted May 25, 2015 at 04:53 PM Report Share Posted May 25, 2015 at 04:53 PM Does the paid staff member own a home in your HOA? That may or may not be relevant, depending on what the bylaws, other governing documents, or relevalt statutes say about who can serve as an officer.
