Guest otoole Posted July 13, 2020 at 12:16 PM Report Share Posted July 13, 2020 at 12:16 PM The vote on a motion requiring a 2/3 vote was 23 - 15. The motion was declared passed by the chair and no one asked a question or raised a point of order. Subsequently it was realized that an error had been made and the motion should have failed. What can be done now to correct the error?
Hieu H. Huynh Posted July 13, 2020 at 12:20 PM Report Share Posted July 13, 2020 at 12:20 PM The adopted motion could be rescinded or amended.
Atul Kapur Posted July 13, 2020 at 12:48 PM Report Share Posted July 13, 2020 at 12:48 PM To supplement Mr. Huynh's correct answer, it is too late to correct the chair's error of declaring the motion adopted. A point of order regarding the chair's incorrect declaration would need to be made in a timely manner, that is, immediately after the declaration was made. So, since you can't do that, you are left with Mr. Huynh's suggestions.
