Election of VP, Secretary, Treasurer after new President has been elected

We are electing officers for our 2022 board. Our procedure is that outgoing President presides over the election of incoming President. Does the outgoing President continue to preside over the VP, Secretary and Treasurer positions and then retire, or does the incoming President assume responsibility to finish the elections as soon as elected?

"An officer-elect takes possession of his office immediately upon his election's becoming final, unless the bylaws or other rules specify a later time (see 56:27)."  RONR (12th ed.), 46:47

Therefore, the newly elected president would preside over the remainder of the meeting unless the bylaws say he takes office at a later time (such as the end of the meeting, etc..).

When do the new officers actually take office?  Usually the byaws prescribe that the new officers assume office  on a fixed date or upon adjournment of the annual meeting or use similar language.  If that is the case, the "outgoing" president is  still president until the meeting adjourns so he would preside for the rest of the meeting.  However, if your bylaws are silent, then it may well be that each officer takes office immediately upon his election.  If that is the case, then it would be appropriate for the newly elected president to preside over the rest of the meeting after his election.  Check the exact language in your bylaws.

Note:  I see that George Mervosh  responded and posted the citation from RONR as I was typing this response.  I agree with his response.
