Guest Ntufte Posted March 24, 2024 at 01:02 AM Report Share Posted March 24, 2024 at 01:02 AM In the beginning of our board meetings it seems that the president can read a 'presidents message' and neither the other board members or those in attendance can make any remark about it. When questioned I was told it's Robert Rules. I can't find any info about it. Please help. Thanks, NTufte
Joshua Katz Posted March 24, 2024 at 01:04 AM Report Share Posted March 24, 2024 at 01:04 AM Well the President can give the President's Report, but there's no rule that no one else can make a remark about it, whenever making remarks is in order, subject to the usual decorum rules. Rob Elsman Posted March 24, 2024 at 02:39 AM Report Share Posted March 24, 2024 at 02:39 AM Officers are sometimes asked to present a report on their activities, but what is described here sounds more like a throne speech. 🙂
Atul Kapur Posted March 24, 2024 at 03:16 AM Report Share Posted March 24, 2024 at 03:16 AM (edited) The Standard Order of Business in RONR includes Reports of Officers, Boards, and Standing Committees but this is the second item, after Reading and Approval of Minutes, rather than "In the beginning of our board meetings." RONR (12th ed.) 41:5 While it is not specified in RONR, a member may make a Request for Information after the report.
