Rescind Motion After Meeting

A motion was made and seconded at our general membership meeting with a quorum of membership and was passed. Can the person who made the motion and the person who seconded that motion rescind the motion two days after said meeting by telephone? Thank you.

No. The motion no longer "belongs" to the person who made it. It is now the position of the society as a whole. The person who made the motion cannot unilaterally rescind the motion.

As a general matter, however, any member could move to Rescind the motion. That motion requires a second, and in order to be adopted, it requires a 2/3 vote, a vote of a majority of the entire membership, or a majority vote with previous notice.
