jstackpo Posted March 4, 2015 at 08:34 PM Report Share Posted March 4, 2015 at 08:34 PM Sure. He/she can tender his resignation to the Board or to the General Membership. See RONR §32 (p. 289) for what happens next.
Hieu H. Huynh Posted March 4, 2015 at 08:50 PM Report Share Posted March 4, 2015 at 08:50 PM And when the resignation is submitted by the president, the chair should be turned over to the vice president during the consideration of the motion that the resignation be accepted. When the resignation has been accepted and becomes effective, the vice president automatically becomes president unless your bylaws provide otherwise. Edgar Guest Posted March 4, 2015 at 10:16 PM Report Share Posted March 4, 2015 at 10:16 PM He/she can tender his resignation . . . Shouldn't that also be "his/her"?
jstackpo Posted March 4, 2015 at 10:18 PM Report Share Posted March 4, 2015 at 10:18 PM I'm lazy. Once makes the anti-sexist point. You want I should use "their"?
Edgar Guest Posted March 4, 2015 at 10:22 PM Report Share Posted March 4, 2015 at 10:22 PM You want I should use "their"? How about, "A resignation can be tendered to either the board or to the general membership"? Not that there's any evidence there's a board or, if there is, that it has the authority to accept the resignation of the president.
