Guest Jaye Posted May 25, 2011 at 05:50 PM Report Share Posted May 25, 2011 at 05:50 PM I am currently the Secretary in a Boy Scout Committee. I would like to resign from the position due to problems with in the Troop leadership. I would like to resign properly. Would I submit a written resignation to the Committee Chair or Scout Master? Is there a sample letter of resignation for me to follow?
Chris Harrison Posted May 25, 2011 at 05:59 PM Report Share Posted May 25, 2011 at 05:59 PM You should submit your resignation to whoever the bylaws say. If they are silent address the letter to whichever body that elected you to the position. There is no sample letter in RONR but I think simply stating that you are resigning would suffice. Rev Ed Posted May 25, 2011 at 07:47 PM Report Share Posted May 25, 2011 at 07:47 PM If needed, write the letter to the Chairman seeing that you are the Secretary. The letter could read somehing like this:"Dear Mr./Miss/Mrs. _____; Please be advised that I am tendering my resignation as Secretary of the Boy Scout Troop #___ effective immediately. Please inform the membership/Committee/Board know of my intention in order for them to officially accept my resignation and elect a successor. When notified, I will make contact with the new Secretary to provide all records belonging to the organization that are in my possession. Sincerely, your name." Gary c Tesser Posted May 26, 2011 at 11:11 AM Report Share Posted May 26, 2011 at 11:11 AM Is a Boy Scout Committee really the kind of deliberative assembly to which RONR applies?(Um, what's a Boy Scout Committee?)
