Board voting

Can a board vote on a motion that has been brought before them? If they are members of the assembly do they still retain their vote on an issue as an individual of the assembly? How would their vote(s) be made if allowed?

Thanks for any help you can give

Joe

During a meeting of the assembly, the "board" as such doesn't exist, but members of the board, if they are members of the assembly may vote, debate, &c. just as other assembly members can.

Does that clear it up?

Agreed. RONR (11th ed.), p. 448, ll. 3-5, if JDS' reply answered Joe's question.

To put it another way, members of an association are not penalized for being members of the board. In other words, they retain all the rights of any other member of the association including, of course, the right to vote at meetings of the association. They can even vote one way at a board meeting and another way (on the same issue) at a meeting of the association.
