Guest Nancy N. Posted December 13, 2014 at 11:50 AM Report Share Posted December 13, 2014 at 11:50 AM "Recuse" is not used in RONR. If the secretary excuses herself for whatever reason, then, strictly speaking, a secretary pro tem -- someone filling in -- fills in for her. Hieu H. Huynh Posted December 13, 2014 at 02:03 PM Report Share Posted December 13, 2014 at 02:03 PM If the secretary is a member of the board, she has the right to attend all meetings of the board unless your rules say otherwise. Also see FAQ #9 regarding a "conflict of interest."
Gary Novosielski Posted December 15, 2014 at 04:37 PM Report Share Posted December 15, 2014 at 04:37 PM If the secretary recuses themselves for a brief period of time during the meeting while the Board discusses a matter pertaining to a request that the secretary has made to the Board of Directors, how does the secretary go about recording the events pertaining to them while they were recused? I believe the secretary should simply stay and perform the duties of secretary.
Richard Brown Posted December 15, 2014 at 09:32 PM Report Share Posted December 15, 2014 at 09:32 PM If the secretary does leave the room.... for whatever reason.... while the meeting is in progress, he or she should ask someone to take notes in his absence. In the alternative, a secretary pro tem could be selected to take notes until the secretary returns.
