Guest Denise Posted March 3, 2021 at 02:08 PM Report Posted March 3, 2021 at 02:08 PM My organization is trying to meet via Zoom. None of our members are familiar with the set up, etc. The President refuses to step up and take the lead on setting up a Zoom account. Where in Robert's Rules can we find the directive that the President is required to take action when none of the body is able to take on this responsibility? Quote

Richard Brown Posted March 3, 2021 at 02:24 PM Report Posted March 3, 2021 at 02:24 PM Aside from the question of whether your bylaws permit electronic meetings, any administrative duties of the president, such as “setting up for meetings“, is outside of The scope of RONR and should be provided for in your own rules or customs. RONR is concerned only with the president’s duties in the sense of being the presiding officer at meetings. See sections 47:20 and also 47:5– 47:7 of RONR (12th Ed) regarding the administrative duties of the president and the duties of the president as the presiding officer. Quote
Rob Elsman Posted March 3, 2021 at 03:39 PM Report Posted March 3, 2021 at 03:39 PM In some organizations, the sergeant at arms and his assistants are responsible for setting up the various furnishings in the meeting room or area. See RONR (12th ed.) 47:40. Quote
George Mervosh Posted March 3, 2021 at 03:48 PM Report Posted March 3, 2021 at 03:48 PM If the bylaws don't expressly authorize electronic meetings, no one should be attempting to set one up. Quote
