AdaShort Posted January 26, 2011 at 03:50 PM Report Share Posted January 26, 2011 at 03:50 PM We had a special resolution vote which needed 3/4 in favor to pass. There were 61 votes, 46 in favor, 15 opposed. 75% was 45.75. As this was less than 3/4 was this a pass or a fail?
George Mervosh Posted January 26, 2011 at 04:17 PM Report Share Posted January 26, 2011 at 04:17 PM I'm not the resident math expert (sadly, he doesn't come around any more), but it seems like it received a 3/4 vote and passed. Are you making the mistake of adding 1 to the number?

As long as the Yes votes are at least triple the No votes, you have achieved a 3/4 vote. The resolution should have passed. Whether it did or not depends on what the chair announced, and what, if anything, happened after that.

As this was less than 3/4 was this a pass or a fail?Whatever result the presiding officer announced stands, since, apparently, a Point of Order was not raised at the time.
