Dan Honemann Posted April 21, 2015 at 11:34 AM Report Share Posted April 21, 2015 at 11:34 AM Do minutes need to be voted on? As previously noted, the short answer is no. When minutes are presented for approval, the chair asks if there are any corrections. Proposed corrections are often agreed to by unanimous consent, but if any member objects a majority vote is required to make the correction. Once all proposed corrections have been dealt with (either agreed to or rejected), the chair declares the minutes approved (or approved as corrected). No vote is taken on this approval of the minutes. They are deemed to be approved by unanimous consent, since the only way to object to approval of the minutes is to offer a correction. Gary Novosielski Posted April 21, 2015 at 01:24 PM Report Share Posted April 21, 2015 at 01:24 PM Do minutes need to be voted on? They need to be approved, but that does not require a vote. The only way to object to the approval of the draft minutes is to propose one or more corrections to them. The proposed corrections might get voted on if there is not unanimous agreement, but there's no need to vote on the overall approval. Once there are no more corrections, you're done.
